Photograph depicting the Eastland Disater. On July 24, 1915, the Eastland, a passanger vessel, collapsed on the Chicago River at its dock due to being overweight and naturally topheavy. Of the 2,500 passangers and crew, 844 perished. The Reid Murdoch Building is visible in the background which still stands.
