Originally built in 1927 as a Swedish Community Center, the Metro became a jazz and folk club and then primarily a venue for rock concerts beginning in 1982. Famouse bands to have played there include New Order, The Ramones, Depeche Mode, R.E.M., Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, James Brown, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, and Prince.
